A smoke detector is essential as there is so much of the van that is flamable, it might all go up very quickly in a fire situation. Carbon monoxide detector, often overlooked, gas is a quick and deadly killer and should not be underestimated. Finally, the fire extinguisher, not so much as having one, it’s more having one that works. Before heading off check the extinguisher works and is easily accessible, remember, they should be stored lying sideways.
As mentioned, be sure each of the above you can easily get hold of them when needed. And, be sure they are in an excellent working order.
