This Ghost town is so worth a visit. Imagine the miners who lost their jobs and had no choice but to leave their homes and go searching for another job, in another town. Step back in time to this, slightly renovated, set of shacks the miners of the 1920's, when the town and mine just shut down.

If you are starting out on your journey, or considering buying some padlocks, buy in town before you leave. The price and choice in country towns is limited and expensive. Also, choose a pack of 2, 3, or 4 locks same keyed, you will get spare keys and don't need to go through your "jailer-set-of-keys to find the right one.

What a beautiful part of Western Australia. Esperance has many treasures hidden along its coastline. Some are more well known than others. While some are a little difficult to drive to unless you are well adept at 4 wheel driving. What a beautiful part of Western Australia. The beaches are clean, crystal clear and a blue not really found in the other states of Australia. Wait, no I am not a West Australian.  I do find the beaches absolutely stunning. A smoke detector is essential  as there is so much of the van that is flamable, it might all go up very quickly in a fire situation. Carbon monoxide detector, often overlooked, gas is a quick and deadly killer and should not be underestimated. Finally, the fire extinguisher, not so much as having one, it’s more having one that works. Before heading off check the extinguisher works and is easily accessible,

More than a movie with the same name, the Rabbit Proof fence to me was a great experience. Determined to find it and it's origins at the beginning of the ocean, I went in search of its roots. Asking around various travellers I found at the Starvation Bay campsite, the answers varied from "no idea, mate!" to a mud map supplied by Bremer Bay tourist office. Google maps didn't seem to know much about it either. Afters some sleuth work, I finally got an idea where I might
